The blue whale is the largest mammal in the world
The blue whale is the largest mammal in the world and the largest animal ever known. These whales breathe air, but they have their home on the water, which helps support the weight of its enormous body.
We find these mammals anywhere on almost any ocean, swimming in small groups or alone. In the summertime, they often move to cooler waters. They also make great migration to Ecuador when winter comes. Often seen in coastal California or Mexico.
They eat duck and may consume between 4 and 8 tons per day. Currently, only a few know that whales swim and sail the oceans of the world. For many years, blue whales have been hunted in a cruel and ruthless to get the grease and oil, the consequence has been a dramatic decrease in the number of whale populations.
In 1966 the International Whaling Convention whales put under official protection. Like all great animals, takes a long gestation process. Carries her young on the inside for a year before giving birth.
