Herbivores are animals that usually eat plants
As many people think, Herbivores are animals that feed mainly on plants, they also feed on animal proteins and other compounds that provide the nutrients needed for growth, such as eggs. Animals that eat only plants are considered, like people, animals, vegetarian.
The food chain are considered as primary consumers, being carnivores secondary consumers.
Herbivores can be classified, such as herbivores, which eat only fruits and herbivores that specialize in eating leaves. However, this classification is far from exclusive, since there are many species that consumed the two food types.
Activity mammals, most important group are herbivorous ruminants. These animals have a way to digest food very special, which consists of the following steps:
1 .- Cut the grass with the front teeth and swallow without chewing rapidly.
2 .- The food reaches the stomach and then to the net. From here return to the mouth, forming small food bowls.
3 .- In the mouth slowly chewing grass, for that use large molars, until it perfectly crushed. This process is called rumination and performed at rest.
4 .- They go back to swallow the food, which goes to the book and then the curd, which makes digestion.
Perhaps the most important group of herbivores are insects because of their large number and high impact on vegetation and the whole environment.
