Camels have a hump that serves as water storage
The camels have two humps, while the dromedary has only one. That’s the difference between these two species. The function is always the same. Stores water and energy then used in case of shortage and drought.
This gives the camel’s legendary ability to endure without eating or drinking for long periods of time can pass very arid regions or deserts with little drinking. When the hump is exhausted reserves, it becomes flabby and soft. Camels do not live in the desert sands, but in the rocky deserts of eastern and central Asia.
Temperatures in these places are extreme. 40 º C in summer, -29 º C in winter. Why camels have developed adaptations to these changes brutal nature. The clearest example of these adaptations is the thick fur that protects them in winter, and they drop when the temperature increases with the arrival of summer.
The herbs they eat in winter, or at any time of year, give them enough water to survive for long. However, when the camels drink order, they act like a sponge. The camel can drink 135 liters of water in just 13 min. To protect your eyes from the earth and wind, these animals have a large protective tabs. In addition, a large and wide legs are provided through such rocky deserts, and not to sink into the sand due to the great weight on their backs.
These camels are the only ones now living in freedom, and placed in the Gobi Desert (Mongolia and China), but their number is very small and does not exceed 1000 copies.
