Animal life living in the savanna
A characteristic of this bio-me is the passage of a dry wet season to another and vice verse. The dry season is very dry, which facilitates the spread of fire, however, the fire accelerates the growth of herbs and slows the development of trees, accelerates soil mineralization and growth of plants that are adapted to these conditions, becoming part of a natural cycle.
In the African savanna, perhaps the most representative of all, occupies the east of central Africa, has average temperatures of 23 ยบ C, with annual rainfall of 600 mm. There is a well-determined border between forest and savanna, because the sheet is determined by the species of its inhabitants, and not by territorial. Las herbaceous plants, grasses, and grasses are typical of the linens.
In America, there are three types of savannas: the closed and the Chaco plains.
The hills are spread over the plateau formations in Brazil and cover about 2,000,000 km2. They have a wide variety of ecosystems such as clean fields, which are areas of grass, dirt fields, where trees and shrubs, enclosed fields, which are typical woody savannas, and cerebrates where tree cover occupies 50% of field site.
The Chaco, which covers nearly 1,000,000 km2 in the territories of Bolivia, Paraguay and Argentina. In this area, dominated by woody plants with thorns. The climatic conditions become progressively drier west of the Paraguay and Parana rivers.
Finally the plains, covering about 500,000 km2 in Venezuela and Colombia. From April to October rains make rivers to overflow and cause flooding. In the dry season, water evaporates and the ground becomes very dry again.
